Cinco de Mayo, 2012
Departed Rio Grande Valley about 10:15 a.m. Much faster take off than we anticipated. We were following a great celebration for Dona's birthday on the 4th. It took many trips from the house to the Airstream to get all the last minute items loaded, but we did surprise ourselves.
Our first major stop was at Stricklands in Falfurias for the last predictably good chicken fried steak of the summer. After lunch, we made a quick stop at Wally world in Alice, then in spite of everything our multiple gps units were telling us, we headed on north to Three Rivers before turning west.
We enjoyed a meal and a lovely host site at Jourdanton with the Haddox family.
They have a magnificient live oak tree out front. I'll attempt to get a photo for the next entry.
Altogether, a good start for this summer's adventures. May it continue.....
