Tallac Historic Site

We arrived on July 23 to the first rain here in two months.  The storm also contained hail.  We were unable to get our rig easily into the assigned place, so were given a different location.
Next day, two trees came down, just in time for the arrival of a big motorhome.  On Tuesday, we explored the area and prepared for our orientation on Wednesday.  We had the next three days off and by the time Sunday arrived were ready to get going.

Our first work week involved shadowing others to learn the many jobs we will have here.  We also attended a musical program and a play.  These are perks of the location.

We  purchased bicycles so that we can take advantage of the many paths on the site and beyond.  Because of the location of our camp site, we are able to go down and enjoy the lake in the evenings after the crowds have left.  We can pretend we are among the rich of the earth enjoying great and private pleasures.

Jim seems to have found a home in the blacksmith shop.  He says he is getting to do the things he wanted to do at age 8 in his grandfather's shop.  He will also enjoy being the Maytag salesman at Great Gatsby, demonstrating a vintage (1930's) washer and offering prizes.

So....for anyone interested, yes, the traffic is horrific, so we go off site as little as possible, but we are having fun!
